The Secret Sauce to Green Carpet Cleaning in Dallas

We all are surrounded and bombarded by advertisements everyday promising us the world in exchange for a few bucks.  Many times after using the service or product and all the hype settles down, we begin to realize that it wasn't so different or as unique as we were led on to believe.

hair shampoo vs carpet cleaningToday if we look at carpet cleaning, virtually everyone says that they leave "no sticky residue", "no soapy residue", or some even blatantly claim "no residue" in their carpet cleaning.  It makes the whole idea of no residue carpet cleaning become something that you just accept as the norm - everyone offers it.

For a second, think about washing your hair.  If you have shorter hair, imagine it was long.  Now think about the amount of shampoo you put into your hair to wash it and get everything good and sudsy.  Now think about rinsing it out.  If you have long hair it will take some serious work.  The soap sticks to everything, and it is on every strand of hair.  The only way to remove all the shampoo is with gallons of plain water.

Carpet cleaning is actually quite similar.  In a carpet fiber, you can have over a hundred filaments in one bundle wrap or yarn of the carpet.  That means you have thousands, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of filaments (like individual hair strands) in just 1 square foot of carpeting. Now imagine getting soap or a detergent locked up in that.  It would take some serious rinsing, just like our own hair. In reality, our last carpet cleaners probably left something behind (unless it was Zerorez®).  In fact if they were good, they probably did an acid rinse to neutralize their residue to leave us with softer carpet, but did they even attempt a clean water rinse after that?

Well, each day at Zerorez®, we get the question, how do you clean without soaps, detergents, shampoos, or surfactants?  The secret is our empowered water™ technology.  This technology is essentially water that has been electrolyzed and oxidized, which makes it an incredible cleaning agent.

Today, I found a nine minute video on youtube that explains the power of this water in a fun, and entertaining way.  Although the technology is not completely identical, the root technology behind the water is.

So the way that Zerorez® can make claim to no residue carpet cleaning, comes from the fact that our cleaning agent is literally free of all soaps, detergents, surfactants, and shampoo.  It is empowered water™ technology that is completely non-toxic, green, and leaves no residue behind in your carpet.

Until you try us out, it probably will be hard to believe.

Carpet Cleaning Dallas Traffic Lanes

You have had your carpet for some time, but you are starting to notice that the carpet is looking a bit gray or dingy everywhere you walk on a regular basis: down the hall, around the corner, in your master closet, it seems to be everywhere.  What causes this traffic lane gray and what can you do about it?

First off, you need to understand a bit about the construction of your carpet.  Most carpet installed in residential homes is made from plastic strands that are twisted together into bundle wraps. Bundle wraps make up the yarns that are woven into the soft, colorful, lustrious carpet that you have come to love.  Now this carpet fiber can be made up of different polymers and strands, each with its own characteristics: some good, some not so desirable. We will discuss these different fibers at another time.

sand under microscopeSo you have this gorgeous carpet and you start to walk on it.  Dirt, grime, sand, grit and all sorts of things get tracked in and stuck in these fibers.  We all know this happens, so we try to vacuum on a regular basis.  The only problem is that sand or dirt under a microscope looks like tiny pieces of glass.  These small pieces of sand or dirt have dozens of sharp cutting edges and each time they rub or touch up against a fiber, they cut or mar that fiber.

You are probably thinking, no big deal.  It is such a small scratch who would ever notice. That is probably true, but we are talking about hundreds, and thousands of these scratches on a lustrious carpet and before you know it, you have done irreversible damage to the carpet fiber.  Once that fiber has been scratched, the light that reflects back to you (which gives you color) will never be the same.  Eventually it will look dingy and give you the dreaded "traffic lane gray".  All because of some little dirt.

Now, not all the gray color in your traffic lanes is related to just scratches.  Most likely there is quite a bit of dirt and oil that has built up and is locked up in the carpet fiber that only a good carpet cleaning can remedy and restore.  However, most likely, underneath that dirt can be damaged carpet that no carpet cleaning will be able to fully revitalize.

Just think about a small, shiny, red, plastic fire engine truck.  Once it has been scratched, you can never fix it.  Now imagine, hundreds of these scratches and that shiny red plastic will start to look dull, dingy, and pretty old.  No longer will it look so vibrant and shiny like  it did when it was first purchased.

So what can you do?

Your best ounce of prevention is to vacuum.  Vacuum frequently, especially in your traffic areas. Today most manufacturers mandate at least daily vacuuming of traffic lanes in order to protect your carpet warranty. This is required because the manufacturers know that the longer you leave this dirt in the carpet and allow it to cut and mar the fibers, the faster it will look dirty and dingy. These problems typically get associated with the construction of the carpet which is completely unrelated, and due solely to poor maintenance over time.

After you have vacuumed regularly, manufacturer's also advise hot water extraction for regular deep carpet cleaning at least every 24 months by a certified carpet cleaning firm (make sure to read your warranty).

Zerorez® Carpet Cleaning Dallas can and will definitely help to revitalize the look and luster of the carpet, even though we can't reverse all the scratches and marring from .

4 Ways to Save on Dallas Carpet Cleaning

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook | Buzz This  Google Buzz | Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious
The world is a changing environment and the economy has caused many families and individuals to hold back on frivolous spending. Times have been tough and at Zerorez® we want to help as much as possible. We know that carpet cleaning can be an investment and so here we hope to give candid advice on how to lower the price of your carpet cleaning.

Secret #1 Vacuum Traffic Patterns Daily

Most of the soil that is in your carpet is actually just dry particulate. Dust, dirt, soil, or any other particulate can be pulled out by just vacuuming. Carpet mills today recognize this and now demand that traffic patterns are vacuumed daily to maintain your carpet warranty. The benefits are great savings because you greatly increase the life of the carpet and diminish the need for any carpet cleaning.
If you don’t have a good vacuum already, check out the CRI or Consumer Reports. It may surprise you how you can get a decent vacuum for less than $200. Make sure it has a HEPA filter so that it does not just put the dust back in the air while vacuuming.

Secret #2 Doing it Yourself can be Quite Expensive

Cleaning carpet yourself can actually be quite an expensive undertaking once you consider everything that goes into it. You have to rent a small carpet extractor, haul it home, buy some soap or chemicals to clean with, read a bunch of instructions, spot treat problem areas, pre-treat traffic areas, and run the machine and try to figure out if everything is working or make sure you don’t put too much soap down. Now you have the issues of over-wetting the carpet, a bunch of chemical residues, your carpet is wet for a long time, and your water wasn’t even hot enough to kill dust mites that are living in the carpet. Not to mention all the time, energy, and back breaking work you put into it. Then all the spots begin reappearing a week later because there is too much soap residue left in your carpet. Now your only option is to do it all over again or hire someone with some knowledge on how to do it right.

Secret #3 Soaps, or Detergents Cost More Over Time

You have probably always heard that you need to wait as long as possible before cleaning your carpet. In most cases that is true, because cleaning and leaving any soap or detergent residue means that you will need to carpet cleaning again. Most likely it will be sooner than later, and you have now started a vicious cycle of carpet cleaning. Not exactly a good way to keep cleaning costs under control. Plus if you try to extend the time between these cleanings with dirt or soil trapped in the carpet, the carpet will wear more rapidly and destroy the beauty that it once had.

Secret #4 Zerorez® Means Cleaner Longer

So you are probably reading this and wondering what do I do. The answer is in our name. No residue. Our carpet cleaning technology leaves no residue behind, and gives you more life out of your carpet. In many instances when someone is cleaning their carpet on a normal basis, like every 3 to 6 months, after our first cleaning, they go almost twice as long between cleanings, like 6 to 12 months, and their carpet doesn’t get nearly as dirty as before. That is a huge savings when you start looking at it year after year. Plus your initial carpet investment can really give you the many years of beauty as it was engineered and designed to give.

Carpet Cleaning Dallas: Spot vs. Stain

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook | Buzz This  Google Buzz | Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious

You wanted your carpet to look like new again, so you hired a professional carpet cleaner in Dallas to come and restore the original beauty to your carpet. Simple task, you thought. Your carpet cleaner starts rambling how it isn't a spot that normal cleaning will take care of, you have a stain. So what does that matter? You just want it to look new again.

Well, there is a vital difference between the two. A spot can be washed away. It is something that has attached itself to the outside of the carpet fibers. A stain is more difficult because it has made itself a part of the fibers. It has altered the dyes that give your carpet its beautiful color. In other words, a spot is external to the fiber and a stain is more internal.

"A blind man can find a spot, but he can't find a stain." -unknown

To understand spots and stains you need to understand a little about the carpet fibers. There are different types of carpet fibers and every type has different properties, some positive, some negative. We can discuss those later. Right now we need to know that much of the carpet installed is dyed after the carpet yarn has been made. But not every dye site constructed into the carpet fiber has accepted a dye.

When a foreign dye is added to carpet, you get stains where another color has been added to the fiber. You can also have stains where bleach or acne medication gets on the carpet and color is released from the dye sites and lost. Both leave unsightly conditions that carpet cleaning alone will not be able to reverse.

A spot, however, can be from chemical residues left behind from spot cleaning. Or a sugary substance that gets on the floor. Or any type of soil, dirt and grime that gets on the carpet. Usually these will clean up with normal cleaning and your carpet will be like new.

Sometimes you can be taken by surprised at what will stain a carpet and what will clean right off. Some of the worst staining agents are vomit, feces, urine, or other bodily fluids along with any type of artificial or natural food dyes like red punch, coffee, or tea. With any of these the best recommendation is to call a professional immediately. They will be able to give you some options like stain removal, carpet dyeing, or carpet patches. Remember that the longer a soil or particulate sits on the carpet, the more chance it has at making a permanent bond and leaving an unsightly stain.

If you have any spots or stains give us a call and see what we can do for you.

Finding a Dallas Carpet Cleaning Firm

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook | Buzz This  Google Buzz | Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious

Professional carpet cleaning is one of the most fragmented industries in the nation with a level of trust lower than that of a used car salesman. With literally hundreds or possibly thousands of providers in the Dallas and Fort Worth area, it is not easy to open the doors of your home and family to just anyone who has a carpet extractor. Below are 5 points of what to look for and ask as you try to find a firm that will respect you and your home.

What is their reputation?

It doesn’t take much to ruin thousands of dollars of carpet from improper cleaning methods, not to mention other damages to your home or family by someone who isn’t properly screened before entering your home. It can be downright “scary” to let some of these “professionals” into your home.

At Zerorez every employee is screened, tested, and held to high dress code standards to guarantee your comfort and safety. Zerorez is known across the nation as a premier carpet cleaning firm and we take that reputation seriously. Some of the most seasoned carpet professionals, interior designers, and real estate agents refer our services exclusively to their clients. This even includes the radio hosts Jody Dean, Jean & Julie, and many others that have used and experienced first-hand the incredible value that only Zerorez provides.

What experience do they have?

Did the cleaner you called just get a phone number, an extractor, and wait for his next victim?

Zerorez founders have been cleaning carpets for decades and have never accepted the status quo. As a leader in the industry known for its advanced technology, Zerorez constantly refines and implements the latest research to make sure that your home and family are safe from unwanted chemicals, odors, and residues that disrupt your body’s health, destroy carpet fibers, and require more frequent cleaning. Our experience can be traced through millions of yards of carpets.

How educated are they?

Make sure the firm is IICRC certified (check here). The Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification exists to educate and establish standards for all cleaners and is recognized around the world. A majority of cleaners are not certified.

Zerorez promotes education with all of our employees to guarantee that all jobs meet or exceed the standards taught by the IICRC. Our staff is trained daily, to stay abreast on current news, trends, and advancements in the industry and then tested on the latest publications put out in our industry. This education is taken straight to your floors, making sure that you get the finest cleaning and results in the industry.

How is their service?

Some cleaning firms don’t consider what it takes to develop a long term relationship. They take your money today, knowing tomorrow they can find another innocent victim to con.

Zerorez understands that only a long-term focus with customers will result in quality service today. We commit ourselves daily to create “Raving Fans” of our company and services and do everything possible to achieve this lofty goal. We are committed to first class customer service, and treating the homes, families, and individuals that we encounter with utmost respect and courtesy.

Is their work guaranteed?

Lip service is easy; but when it comes down to re-servicing a client, many firms may ignore the problem or deny all responsibility.

Zerorez goes above and beyond taking care of any issues that may arise. We guarantee our services. We will perform a test stripe and if we can’t clean it to your satisfaction we will pack up and leave at no cost or obligation. If a problem arises after completing or leaving the job, we will quickly return to fix the issue. We guarantee our prices. A firm quote is given on the job-site before commencing any services. Any surprises at the end of the job will be removed from the invoice. We guarantee that we will be on time. If we miss our window of arrival for whatever reason, you will get a room cleaned at no charge. We want every experience with Zerorez to make you a “Raving Fan”.
